Riya A Kaur is General Counsel of Tata NYK Shipping Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based dry bulk shipping joint venture between the Tata Group and NYK Line. She has led the company’s Legal Department for over a decade and has more than 20 years of cross-border experience in shipping and commercial law.

Riya advises on charterparty risk allocation, early redelivery disputes, bunker and performance claims, marine insurance recoveries (H&M, P&I and FD&D), vessel sale and purchase, and multi-jurisdictional arbitration. She works closely with insurers, brokers and external counsel to manage complex contractual exposures across a globally trading bulk fleet. She serves on the Executive Committee of WISTA Singapore and is an active contributor to maritime legal and insurance forums.
