Riya A Kaur occupies the position of General Counsel at Tata NYK Shipping Pte Ltd (TNYK), directing the company’s Legal Department for over a decade. Her career spans more than 20 years in Malaysia and Singapore, where she has managed a wide array of legal issues including banking litigation, probate cases, international trade and transportation law, shipbuilding, ship financing, and marine insurance. Riya specializes in guiding dispute resolution strategies for shipowners and charterers in shipping and commercial disputes.

Before her current role at TNYK, Riya contributed her expertise to a leading international feeder service company for container ships and was part of a prestigious London P&I club. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, several Chinese dialects, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, Punjabi, and Tamil, which enhances her capability to navigate complex international legal landscapes effectively.
