Capt. Hari is the Chief Commercial Officer with the Howden Group’s Marine, Cargo & Logistics team, with over 35 years of maritime experience including shipboard and shore-based Insurance roles.
Capt. Hari has 17 years of sailing experience, including three years as Master Mariner, on ocean-going and offshore vessels. After moving ashore, he managed commercial and operations at a major shipping company before leading the launch of an offshore firm in Singapore.
For the next sixteen years, he headed a P&I Club’s Global Loss Prevention department, overseeing the ship inspection programmes and developing risk management strategies. Between 2019 – 2025, Capt. Hari has served as the Club’s Regional Head of Business Relations, enhancing stakeholder engagement, safety awareness, and risk management, while also introducing enhanced medical scheme for seafarers’ wellbeing.

- Deputy Chairman of Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), Singapore’s National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (NMSSC)
- Member of MPA Singapore’s – Harbour Craft Safety Workgroup.
- Vice Chair of the Singapore Shipping Association’s Legal and insurance Committee
- Member of International Chamber of Shipping’s Legal and insurance Committee
- Member of the Singapore Governments Workplace Safety Health Council (WSHC) representing the Maritime Industries.
- Fellow and Main Council Member of The Nautical Institute (UK)
- Chairman of the Nautical Institute – Singapore branch.

Capt Hari holds a Master Mariners Licence (Unrestricted), an MBA in Human Resources and International Management, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Maritime Energy from the World Maritime University.
